NOT Technique

What Is NOT

Our low force adjustment protocol NOT, stands for Neural Organisation Technique.

NOT is a series of techniques combining chiropractic spinal care with Applied Kinesiology, designed to improve nervous system function by re-organising the nervous system so that the individual can function effectively and efficiently without pain or distress.

The NOT principles are based on the survival systems of the human species: feeding, flight/fight reproduction and immune and following the theory that the body is an integrated whole – self-healing and self-regulating.. The aim of NOT is to move you into a rested, self-healing state, by decreasing your Sympathetic Nervous system activity and ensuring your survival systems can be engaged as required.

Nerve irritation often occurs in people due to micro trauma (e.g. slouching/ posture), macro trauma (larger injuries/ car accidents), or through chemical or emotional stressors (e.g. diet/ sleep/ mental health).

How does NOT work?

N.O.T. works to identify neural ‘disorganisation’ that comes from your body’s unresolved reaction to everyday stressors (e.g. emotional stress, injuries and biochemical changes). N.O.T. procedures involve a series of spinal and brain health checks designed to review the health of your nervous system. This ‘system check’ basically explores your functional status for the root of the injury or bio-mechanical instability.

Chiropractic adjustments may help headaches, back pain, scoliosis, neck pain, nerve pain and more

Dry Needling

What is Dry Needling?

Dry needling uses a fine, solid filament needle to relieve myofascial (muscle) pain or dysfunction. Dry needles are inserted  into 'trigger points' and the treatment may be effective in relieving tension relating to musculoskeletal injuries.Trigger points are sensitive knotted areas within a muscle, these knots can be painful and often cause pain that affects another part of the body- a referred pain. The Chiropractor inserts an extremely thin needles through the skin into the trigger point, stimulating the tissue and allowing the brain and body to work together to return the affected area to a more normal function.
Dry needling may also treat:

  • Joint issues
  • Spinal problems
  • Disc issues
  • Muscle tension
  • Repetitive motion disorders (e.g. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome)
  • Tendinitis
  • Rotator Cuff injury
  • Migraine/ tension- caused headaches
  • Jaw and mouth problems (e.g. TMD)
  • Whiplash
  • Plus, More

Acupuncture Vs Dry Needling
Both acupuncture and dry needling provide relief from pain stemming from injury. Acupuncture is Ancient Chinese Medicine, which involves redirecting the flow of 'chi' or energies in order to relieve tension, stress and/or pain. Dry is based on western principles and physiology and should not be confused with Chinese medicine.
